Meet our intern, that we've never met (yet)

Updated: Jan 14

Hi, I'm Ollie, founder of Enterprise Orchard. We recently employed Imogen, a recent graduate from UWE, to help with our marketing activity.
Having been an intern myself, over a decade ago, I know what a great opportunity it is, both for a young person starting out, but also the benefits it can bring to a small business.
So Imogen, tell us a bit about yourself…

Hello, my name is Imogen. I’m 22 and a recent graduate from The University of The West of England. I studied Business (Team Entrepreneurship) and ran my own business alongside my studies. I have a real interest in marketing and specifically creating content for social media. I have a passion for art and graphic design, so creating content joins my love for business and design together.

Why did you apply to be a Marketing Intern at Enterprise Orchard?

The role really stood out to me. I loved the variety of work on offer, the chance to work with the founder was really appealing and of course Enterprise Orchard works with start-ups to build businesses. Which was part of my degree and I have run my own business while at university. So the role seemed to be the perfect fit and I thought I could do a good job. So I very quickly applied because I knew a lot of people would be interested in this opportunity.

What have you been working on during your internship?

I have been really fortunate to work closely with Ollie. Enterprise Orchard is a growing company. However it is still a small enough business to have the opportunity to work directly with the founder. This has been really insightful and useful when creating content. Ollie explained to me about the vision he has for Enterprise Orchard and marketing is a big part of the vision. So this meant all of the social media, the website, creating a blog and a Newsletter were all on the ‘To Do’ list. Within my first week we created a marketing strategy together, stating what we wanted to achieve. It was very important that we were on the same page. Ollie has given me a lot of creative reign and I am really enjoying creating a wide range of content.

The main things I have been working on are mainly creating content for all Enterprise Orchard’s social media channels and LinkedIn. So go and have a look at some of the content I have already posted! We have a Google Garage Webinar in August that you might like to have a look at…it’s a free event all about developing your business’ tone of voice.

What are you enjoying the most?

If I had to choose one thing…I would say creating the info graphics. I love choosing the photo’s, the different colour’s, the layout…I could spend forever creating them, I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to design.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

In 5 years time...I would like to have gained a variety of experience creating content across a variety of sectors. To build up my portfolio. I would then quite like to go back to my entrepreneurial roots and create my own business. Maybe a social media marketing agency? who knows.

What is are your two truths, one lie? I can’t wait to guess…
